The restaurant will be in the former UPS Store location, 23 W. Central Entrance. Erickson said he hopes to open in spring 2022.

The UPS Store, which moved next door, will keep the 23 W. Central Entrance address and Vitta Pizza will become 21 W. Central Entrance, a UPS representative said.

Brad Erickson, owner of Vitta Pizza in Canal Park, is shown in 2011 placing a pizza in its wood-fired oven that was imported from Italy. The restaurant has announced it's opening a second location on Central Entrance in spring 2022.

Coffee, tea shop to open in Lincoln Park

A new coffee and tea shop is opening in the Enger Lofts building in Duluth’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, 1832 W. Superior St.

190° Coffee & Tea will open as soon as December, according to general manager Corey Roysdon. The shop will serve coffee from Duluth Coffee Co. and will have a rotating selection from roasters across the country. Royson said the goal is to educate people about different ways to enjoy coffee. It will also feature cascara, an herbal tea made from the coffee cherry.

“We’re going to try and push what’s happening in coffee everywhere else, and not just in Duluth,” Roysdon said.

The business will also serve tea from Zenith Tea Works and pastries from Duluth’s Best Bread.

190° Coffee & Tea is owned by Alan Nelson, who also owns the Enger Lofts building, formerly Furniture and Mattresses 4 Less. His goal is to create an accessible community hub in Lincoln Park.

Marketplace to open in Enger Lofts

Also coming to the Enger Lofts retail spaces is Goat Hill Marketplace, owned by Tom Hanson, of Duluth Grill, OMC Smokehouse and Corktown Deli & Brews. Hanson said the marketplace will be an evolved version of Corktown and will be marketed to sell pantry, kitchen and everyday necessities.

The business will share staff and inventory with Corktown.

Hanson said he hopes to have the store up and running as early as December.

Duluth Costco opens Thursday

If you’re like me, you may have been counting down to Duluth’s Costco opening, or maybe you couldn’t care less and are counting down to seeing fewer advertisements and promotions for the wholesale retailer. Either way, if you somehow haven’t heard by now, Costco opens Thursday at 4611 W. Arrowhead Road.
