PANAMA CITY — It’s time to spice up those holiday meals with the help of The Spice and Tea Exchange in Panama City Beach.

Lance Boekenoogen always had a passion for cooking and loved to experiment in the kitchen. After retirement, Boekenoogen wanted to pursue something he loved and got the idea of opening a location of The Spice and Tea Exchange after visiting one in central Florida.

The store is located at 701 Pier Park Drive, Suite 125. Operation hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m Monday through Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

“I was looking for something to do after retirement and as soon as I walked into The Spice and Tea Exchange in Dunedin, FL, I just knew right away that was it,” Boekenoogen said. “I loved everything about the store, the appearance, atmosphere, and of course, the smell.”

Lance and Sandie Boekenoogen operate The Spice & Tea Exchange located in Pier Park at Panama City Beach. Lance helps customer Dee Lynn, from Hollywood, Ca., find a tea in the store Monday, November 15, 2021.

Boekenoogen said it was an 18-month journey to open the store in May — a journey that was completed after finding the perfect location at Pier Park in Panama City Beach. He runs the store with his wife, Sandie, seven days a week.

The Spice and Tea Exchange is known for its various amounts of custom spice blends, different teas, and gourmet salts and sugars. From apple cinnamon crisp sugars to hickory-smoked salts, it offers one-of-a-kind blends suitable for anyone, along with an on-site tea bar that allows customers to have their tea of choice freshly brewed hot or iced. In addition, the Panama City Beach location offers locals a 10% discount on every purchase.
