The Newark Center for Meditative Culture (NCMC) announces its Intro to Reiki Workshop, a donation-based program that teaches Reiki and the benefits of this powerful healing modality to participants. Reiki is an energy healing technique that uses gentle hand movements to guide the flow of healthy energy (what’s known in Reiki as “life force energy”) through the body to reduce stress and promote healing. The workshop will take place on Saturday, November 13 at the NCMC space in Newark and will feature a compelling program.

Guest teacher Veronica Guevara-Lovgren, a Jivamukti yoga instructor and Level II Reiki practitioner, will lead the workshop and introduce guests to the fundamentals of Reiki. The pandemic has highlighted the need to take care of our mental health as lockdowns, social distancing, and quarantining have caused increased mental stress. As we manage pandemic living, we are also finding new ways of self-care and relaxation. Reiki is one such tool that people can use to ease emotional stress, manage depression, and more.

The Intro to Reiki workshop is a donation-based program and will be hosted in-person and online. Tickets are $10 for adults and those 18 years-old and under are free to attend. The event will take place on Saturday, November 13 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will meet in-person at the Newark Mediative Center for Culture (NCMC) located at 2 Park Place in Newark, New Jersey. For more information about the Intro to Reiki workshop and to purchase tickets, please visit https://bit.ly/NCMCReiki. Follow NCMC on Facebook and Instagram for more updates. The net proceeds from this event will go to fund NCMC’s free community programs.

For in-person attendance, a COVID-19 vaccination card or proof of a current negative COVID-19 test is required to enter the workshop. Masks are required and sanitizing of hands at entry. The in-person workshop is limited to 10 students seated at a range of four to six feet apart. An air purifier will be turned on before and during the class. Please note that the workshop is on the second floor with no elevator or wheelchair access.
