New Delhi: To keep the skin healthy, one must always remember to keep it hydrated and moisturised. If your skin is not hydrated and moisturised, it might become dull, and flaky and there might arise several other skin issues. Therefore, it is important to keep it well hydrated and moisturised.
Skin moisturisers are available that help to keep the skin moisturised and that is well taken care of. However, skin hydration is different. Skin hydration is the water that is present in the skin at any given point in time. Many times, the water present in the skin is lost and the skin becomes dehydrated. Therefore, it is important that you keep your skin hydrated enough as dehydrated skin might become flaky, dull or even cause redness and itchiness.

Here are a few ways that will help to keep the skin hydrated.

  1. Avoid washing your face with hot water. Hot water tends to take away the moisture from the skin and turns your skin dry and dehydrated. Instead, you can wash your face with lukewarm water and that doesn’t strip off the moisture from the skin.
  2. Use hyaluronic acid on your face. This helps to draw in moisture to your skin and stops water loss from the skin. When the skin is well hydrated it also prevents the signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles.
  3. Use a face mist in the middle of the day. When you use face mists, it gives the skin the required hydration and also compensates for the water loss that might have happened.
  4. Use a cleanser that is gentle on the skin so that it is not stripping on the skin which might lead the skin to lose out on essential oils and water.
  5. Try and apply moisturiser on damp skin rather than dry skin. The moisturiser helps to lock in the hydration and prevents water loss from the skin. Also, always apply a sunscreen because sunburns could dry the skin.
